About the book:
This book is a simple yet insightful, profound literary and visual experience that inspires awakening and helps us navigate life’s everyday challenges. In a time when we find ourselves overwhelmed and wondering who we are and what our purpose for being is, it is a gift to see through the perceived barriers that keep us from living fully and unconditionally.
Praise for Pointing To Nothing:
"With simple language and beautiful images, Michael Kane turns us toward the realization that is beyond experience, yet intrinsic to what we are. These teachings are pure and deep...this book is a gem." -Tara Brach, Ph.D., author Radical Acceptance.
"Pointing To Nothing is a portrait of spiritual realization like no other. It's gorgeous, deeply silent, yet powerful as a clap of thunder."
-Raphael Cushnir, Author of The One Thing Holding You Back
"I love that Michael Kane gave his luminous pictures and words the freedom to “find each other” by chance. As a result, we too are free to listen
in on their silent conversation without having to imagine a meaning. I can attest to this book’s capacity to return the mind to pure, contentless awareness. I also appreciate that its tone is not “mystical.” Much of the writing presents an experienced traveler’s observations on the path – useful for one who is just setting out, but also rich with essential reminders for anyone at any stage. This one, for instance: “The moment you surrender to your current condition, boundless space is available.” Such counsel, if heeded, could transform your life." -Joel Agee, Author of: In The House of My Fear
From the author:
I wanted the book to be simple and direct; a means to navigate and deconstruct the conditioning and beliefs that hold us back from contentment and clarity. I am deeply honored to share the following pages with you. This book has been a happening, not a doing. It arose from a love of nature, photography, and a deep wish for others to be free and to awaken more fully to life. In the book, I draw from my experience of helping others to heal, to move beyond contracted, conditioned ways of thinking, and to rest as pure awareness, our natural condition.
This book can be seen as a natural meditative and contemplative experience. How you experience this book is up to you. You can view it from front cover to back, you can view it as a daily meditative or contemplative process, or you can reference a topic of interest, using the table of contents in the front of the book.
It is my hope that you will “lose yourself” in the images on these pages and let go of any idea of their meaning; that you will see with new eyes, beyond preferences, beliefs, and concepts—just being with the image as it is. These images are like natural visual koans, which can open us to
a clear, unconditioned awareness in which we can see, hear, and embody the words on the pages more fully. All of the images in the book come straight out of the camera and have not been manipulated. Most are natural occurrences within nature. The images and words are not necessarily meant to go together. They just found each other. It’s a mystery!
My hope is that the images and words in these pages will awaken in you a natural process of realization and healing. There is nothing that you need to do or undo, nothing that you need to know, and there is nothing missing. Everything happens by itself. Enjoy!
